GFB Diverter Valve DV+ 2022+ Subaru WRX

The FA24 engine in the 2022+ WRX now uses an electronically controlled factory diverter in place of the pneumatic bypass valve found on all previous turbo Subaru engines. This is controlled by the ECU, and while it sounds like a technological advancement, in some ways it is a step backward. It may respond to throttle closures faster than a pneumatic valve, but longevity and boost sealing are concerns with these types of valves because their valve mechanisms are made entirely of molded plastic. More importantly, the factory electronic valve cannot open and close progressively—it is either open or closed, resulting in less-than-optimal throttle response and drivability. The DV+ design solves all the shortcomings of the factory electronic diverter valve by replacing the plastic valve assembly with precision CNC-machined metal components. It also changes the operating method so the valve can open and close progressively while retaining electronic control. This ensures maximum boost retention and durability, along with the best possible throttle response.
